I received my Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology at the Seattle School of Psychology and Theology, as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Music from Seattle Pacific University. As part of my masters education I completed both an internship and an externship in a college counseling setting where I received training in short-term psychotherapy, Psychological First Aid, DBT, and Mindfulness. Over the past several years, I have gained experience working with incredible clients—individuals, couples, and groups in higher level of care as well as outpatient therapy.
I have furthered my clinical scope with in-depth training in developmental trauma and PTSD, completing Level 1 and Level 2 of the Lifespan Integration method, a gentle body-based treatment focused on resolving without re-traumatizing. I am currently in my Advanced year pursuing training and certification as a Somatic Experience Practitioner through The Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute of Dr. Peter A. Levine, Ph. D. In order to best serve clients along the perinatal spectrum, I have completed the Maternal Mental Health Certificate Training from Postpartum Support International.
Alongside my practice I have gained experience as a milieu therapist in the intensive outpatient program for eating disorders at Opal Food and Body Wisdom, receiving training in RO-DBT and Health at Every Size. I spent several years working as an assistant instructor at The Seattle School, working with counseling students in areas of clinical skills development, race and anti-racism, treatment of shame, and ethics.
My work rests on the foundation of justice and freeing up life force for every person. In a culture dominated by white supremacy and patriarchy, I believe we all deserve to heal and feel safe—both in the therapy room as well as outside of it. I take seriously my own healing, ongoing anti-racism, anti-oppression and advocacy work to uproot oppressive systems both within the counseling field, in our world, and within myself. I meet monthly with an approved supervisor and a consult group to help continually grow and improve the services I provide. I am a member of Perinatal Support Washington, Postpartum Support International and I serve on the board of Washington Therapy Fund, a non profit focused on providing free therapy for Black clients in WA state. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (#LH60925385).
Who I’ve been taught by:
I owe so much of who I have become as a clinician to my teachers and mentors in the field. I have been influenced and directly taught by Dr. Caprice Hollins, PhD and Davinah Simmons, MS, CLE in areas of race, multicultural counseling and implicit bias and I have learned from the work of Resmaa Menakem, MSW, LICSW and Derald Wing Sue + David Sue. My roots in Psychodynamic, Narrative, Trauma and Shame Resilience work have been deeply shaped by studying under Dr. Dan Allender, PhD, Dr. Steve Call, PhD and Abby Wong, MA, LMHC. I was directly instructed in Lifespan Integration by Cindy Wuflestad, LMHC and owe the framework of the model to Peggy Pace. I am currently instructed by Joshua Sylvae at the Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute.
